Economy

A ledger that actually balances

Treasuries, transfers, payroll, quotas and taxes on top of double-entry bookkeeping you can audit.

The ledger

Every movement has two sides

Single-entry economies let value appear from nowhere, which is exactly why yours must never be one of them.

Entry groups sum to zero
Postings that share an entry group must balance per currency. Money entering the world comes from an explicit mint account you own.
Postings are immutable
No edits, no deletes. A correction is a reversing entry, which is what makes the audit log worth reading.
Balances are derived
A balance is the sum of postings, not a number someone can nudge. You can always answer how much currency exists.
Treasuries are real accounts
An org treasury is an account with an owner type, not a normal account with a naming convention.
Categories on every posting: transfer, payroll, tax, fine, grant, adjustment
Source type and id link a posting back to what caused it
Transfers between players, units, orgs and the workspace
One workspace currency by default, named whatever your world calls money

Payroll

Paid from the position, not a spreadsheet

A position carries the rate, a payout policy carries the conditions, and the engine accrues while people work.

Payout policy

policy_patrol_hourly · 20 GSD/h
Hourly
RuleValueIn plain words
requiresClockIntrueMust be clocked in to earn
requiresGamePresencetrueMust be in one of the listed games
requiredTeams["Police"]Must be on the Police team
requiresScheduledShifttrueMust be rostered on a shift operation
requiresCheckIntrueMust have checked in to that shift
minimumSessionMinutes10Sessions under ten minutes earn nothing
accrualIntervalMinutes5Evaluated every five minutes, not at the end
caps.maxPerDay160Nobody earns past 160 GSD in a day
Accrued per interval
Every five minutes the engine checks the conditions and writes an accrual, so switching to a team that does not earn stops the pay immediately.
Disputes take thirty seconds
The trail shows which minutes earned and which did not, instead of one total nobody can check.
Rate models beyond hourly
Per shift, per operation, per record filed, or a flat amount per period. Same engine, different trigger.
Caps as guardrails
Per session, per day and per period — the answer to someone idling in game all weekend.

About Robux. There is no third-party payout API for Robux, and Roblox has declined to build one. Anything claiming automatic Robux payouts is driving your account through a session cookie. GROUPSPACE does the part that is actually hard — working out exactly who is owed what — then hands you a payout sheet and a reconciliation view. You settle it in the Roblox interface and mark the run settled, which locks the accruals. Workspace currency has no such problem: approving a run posts the ledger entries and it is done.
The person who creates a run and the person who approves it can be different
Settled means settled — a later timesheet adjustment cannot silently rewrite it
Staff see their own earnings for the period while they work
Group tenure warnings on members Roblox may not let you pay yet
Quotas

Who is on track, before the deadline

Composable requirements

Playtime, clocked time, shifts completed, operations hosted or attended, records filed — combine as many as you need.

Projection that knows weekends

A flat linear projection calls everyone behind on Wednesday. Ours weights by your workspace's own activity pattern.

Drill down, do not argue

Open a member and see the exact sessions and operations that counted, so a wrong quota can be checked.

On close, anyone below target who is not exempt gets a violation. The policy can notify them, notify their supervisor or file a negative record. It never demotes or terminates anybody on its own.

Tax engine

Governments that can actually govern

A jurisdiction levies a policy, a period closes, assessments go out, and remittances post to the ledger.

Jurisdictions
A scope a levying org has authority over. Layer federal, state and city and each takes its cut, which is the whole reason gov communities want this.
Policies
Basis of income, payroll, transaction, wealth or a flat fee. Rates flat, fixed or bracketed, with exemption thresholds and who it applies to.
Periods
Weekly by default, because that is how these communities already run payroll. Open, assessing, closed.
Assessments and remittance
The bill, then the payment. A remittance is just a ledger entry group in the tax category — no parallel money system.

Collection modes

policy.collection
Withheld

Computed inline when a taxable transaction posts. The entry group grows a third leg. Right for sales tax and payroll withholding.

Assessed

Computed at period close by summing the subject’s qualifying postings, then billed. Right for income and wealth taxes, and it makes tax day an event.

Fines use the same pipeline. A fine from an arrest record is an assessment with a different source. One concept for “money you owe,” not two half-built ones.

Enforcement is declarative

Late penalties are just another policy. Delinquency flags and licence suspension are configuration, so your community can argue about them in fiction.

Who owes what is data

A type declares whether it levies and whether it is taxable. Nobody writes a conditional to work out that a business pays the city.

Everything exports

Assessments, remittances and the raw ledger come out as CSV or through the API when someone wants to check your working.
